Look Sexy, Be Thrifty, Fight Cancer
Summer’s coming. Soon. Really soon.
Well, actually, I guess Spring’s coming before Summer. But I promise you, Summer will arrive very shortly thenafter. Like about three months thenafter.
And that ratty ol’ jersey you wore last year just isn’t going to suffice. Why not? Here’s why:
- It smells terrible. Seriously, it does. Ask any of your riding friends. Or, if you don’t have any riding friends, that pretty much answers your question, too.
- It doesn’t fit. You’ve lost a buncha weight since last year. Or you’re planning to lose a buncha weight by the time Summer comes. Or maybe you’ve gained a lot of weight and have made peace with that fact. One way or another, you’re a different size, and it’s time to attire yourself appropriately.
- It’s not even close to sexy enough. Unless it’s another Fat Cyclist jersey, in which case it’s plenty sexy, but you don’t want to be sexy on only one ride between washes, do you? (And if by chance you wear your bike clothes multiple times between washes I’d like you to go re-read and mentally underscore point #1, above. Thank you. From all of us.)
More than any of those reasons, though, is the big one: The new Team Fatty jerseys are now available for pre-order, with delivery in the beginning of June.
Again, let me make that clear: we are now pre-ordering, for delivery in the beginning of June.
I should also point out that while we always order a few extras, those few extras generally are gone within a few hours. So if you want one, you should pre-order.
And you want one. You know you do.
A Little Bit About Team Fatty
Team Fat Cyclist: Fighting for Susan is a big ol’ group of cyclists (and a few runners and even one triathalete) raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation to fight cancer. There are now more than 360 of us. We’re the top fundraising team in all four event cities: Austin, Seattle, San Jose, and Philadelphia, so we’d darn well better have some matching outfits when we line up at the various LiveStrong Challenges.
Show Me The Jerseys Already
Here’s the men’s short-sleeve version:
What’s cool, though, is that for both men and women, this Team Fatty special edition jersey will also be available in sleeveless. For both men and women.
(Don’t worry, by the way: the sleeveless jerseys are professionally done — they’re not just sheared off by the Twin Six guys during one of their (all-too-common) bouts of drunken scissors rage.)
To order jerseys, click one of the below links. (All jerseys $75)
Get a Great Deal, Feel Good About Yourself
Here’s the thing, though: whether you are a card-carrying, fund-raising member of Team Fatty or not, you’re going to want to get yourself some Team Fatty garb.
Here’s why:
- 40% of Your Fat Cyclist Gear Purchase Goes to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Yep, when you buy one of the Team Fatty jerseys, 40% of the price of that $75.00 jersey (ummm, that works out to…lessee…$30 per jersey) goes to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. And since we’ll be donating that through the Team Fatty fundraising pages, you’ll be helping us stay the top fundraising team in all four cities.
- You’ll Get An Excellent Deal. If you spring for one of the Team Fatty Bundles, you’ll get about 20% off the retail price, in addition to automatically making that 40% donation to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Why are the Twin Six guys so cool about giving up all their profits to fight cancer and make you look good? I don’t know, but I’m thinking of making up some kind of humanitarian award, just so I can give it to them.
Short-Sleeved Bundle
With the Short-Sleeved Team Fatty Bundle, you get a jersey, bibshorts (men) or shorts (women), armwarmers, the newly-designed socks, and the newly-designed water bottle.
Sleeveless Bundle
With the Sleeveless bundle, you get a Team Fatty jersey, bibshorts (men) or shorts (women), the newly-designed socks, and the newly-designed water bottle.
To order Team Fatty Bundles, click one of the below links.
- Men’s Short-Sleeve ($160)
- Men’s Sleeveless ($140)
- Women’s Short-Sleeve ($155)
- Women’s Sleeveless ($135)
This Won’t Last Forever
The Team Fatty jersey pre-order extravaganza is for one week only. It ends Tuesday, March 17, 5:00pm CT.
[True fact: Every time I do a pre-order, someone puts it off until it's too late and then emails me asking if I can make an exception. Please do not be this person.]
Whether you’re working your butt off raising funds or simply showing support by flying the flag, thanks for being a part of Team Fatty.

ARGH…so many choices and so little money what am I to do? Eh, who needs to eat anyway? Hey that means I should get a smaller size.
Thanks Fatty, it’s a win, win. T6 once again you have outdone yourselves.

While I fully understand the motivation to sell these items as a bundle, I’d also like to point out that the sleeveless bundle is seriously flawed.
Triathletes (and moreso for triathletes who are actually triath-a-letes) tend to be the sleeveless wearers. And their cycling wardrobe tends to consist of 2 main items:
0a. no socks (thus no number)
0b. no gloves (thus also no number)
1. the above mentioned sleeveless jersey cut so short it sits 2″ or more above the belly button
2. cycling shorts (not bibs) that sit 2″ or more below the belly button
Socks and bib shorts are going to deter many of the triath-a-letes from participating in this fundraiser.
Comment by Big Mike In Oz | 03.10.2009 | 2:53 am
… because a bib suit doesn’t allow adequate ventilation of their belly button. (sorry about the p.s. but I was distracted by dinner)
Apart from that it’s a rocking looking kit.

Aaaargh! So many jerseys, I think I’m going to have to start selling my old ones… ;-)
Big hand to T6 (yet again).
WIN SUSAN!!

Great looking jersey! And thank you for making it work with the newly acquired bibs and arm warmers that I just got on the last 50% donation T6 sale.
It will look awesome to be kitted up as part of the team in Philadelphia.

I’m in with a Short Sleave Bundle!
Only I am sad that I will not look sexy until June :-(
All my riding buddies sport one of two looks: the first are always in club gear, full kit, right down to socks and shoe covers; the other is the middle-aged dad shorts & tennis shoes look, road riding on a mountain bike. So I will not only be sexy, but most definately different!
Your family is in my prayers. Team Fatty Rocks! Win Susan!

I have a sleevelss on order. I have recruited two others to make the trip to Philly with me.
I also talked to the guys at twin six about making a sleveless for the half Iron I am doing in St Croix. I am worried it will be too hot for black. can you see if they will put out a white version of the sleevless?
Comment by Carl | 03.10.2009 | 9:19 am
I’ve got the bundle coming!!! Is it June yet?

Untill 2013, I’m waaay over my quota on Bike Jerseys/Shorts…but not water bottles. Any ETA on when the new bottles will be available?
Comment by Kt | 03.10.2009 | 12:20 pm
Did you notice that the Fatty wool hats are there for sale as well?
Where’s the love for the women riders, though? No bibs for us?? WHAT-ever. :)
Here’s a question, though: how to the women’s T6 shorts fit compared to, say Pearl Izumi’s Ultrasensor shorts? Bigger, smaller, same size?
Comment by Amy | 03.10.2009 | 12:23 pm
I’m going to look so cute in June. March, April and May….not so much.
Comment by JC | 03.10.2009 | 12:38 pm
I think this was discussed last time there was a jersey order, but what is the fit like on the women’s jerseys? I remember someone saying they tended to run short.
Comment by USAFANARC | 03.10.2009 | 2:11 pm
Will T6 make the socks and water bottles available for order outside the bundle???? I have the bibs (and the previous jersey and armwarmers), so I just wanted to order the sleeveless, the socks and the bottles, but the socks aren’t available. What’s up with that?
Comment by BikeCopVT | 03.10.2009 | 2:22 pm
Hey everyone, I just got an e-mail back from
T6 they will have the socks and water bottles available seperately starting in late April early May.
Win Susan!!!

I’d love to be sporting a Team Fatty kit but black is not a good color for Tucson summers.
Comment by Dartanyon | 03.10.2009 | 4:44 pm
Any idea if they will definitely be in our hands by Seattle’s Challenge ??? June 21?
Totally awesome, needed a Team Fatty to feel worth of riding!
Comment by Jenni Laurita | 03.10.2009 | 5:00 pm
JC I have a women’s FC jersey and it does run short. I wouldn’t have gotten a larger size (I got medium) because it’s very nicely cut throughout the torso, but the bottom of the jersey in back did not cover my lower back.
Disclaimer: my torso is a smidge on the long side, though I’m only 5′6.
Please Twin 6, women like bibs too!! (And while I’m adding my unsolicited opinions, I too would like to add to the no-black-in-the-summer movement- especially black water bottles, though the design is definitely beautiful)

Hey did you see the Arby’s ad for the new Roast Burger? Mmmm…
I’m going to have to get a second job to fund my T6 spending account. Will be pre-ordering as usual.
Thanks T6 and Elden

woohoo… finally got a Fatty jersey. always missed out due to either availability of jerseys or availability of disposable income. got one now! OK, so I won’t actually have it for another 4 months, but… woohoo!
Comment by VA Biker | 03.10.2009 | 5:41 pm
Elden and/or T6,
There have been several different locations of manufacture for T6-branded FC gear over time. The last batch of US-manufacture was proclaimed to fit best of the lots to date, as well as be most comfortable. (Several comments made about this after receipt of goods.)
So, for this 2009 batch, is T6 going back to the last fabrication house or one of its predecessors? Can we get an idea of fit based on one of the previous orders?
Good question! Twin Six is using the same U.S. manufacturer as the most recent Fat Cyclist jersey, and the fit will be the same. – FC
Comment by PeckishCyclist | 03.10.2009 | 6:37 pm
Count me in! BTW, I wore my fabulous FC woolen jersey today and was nice and cozy. It’s a bit too long for me (men’s size), but I LOVE it!
Comment by Rox | 03.10.2009 | 6:48 pm
Black makes you look sexy, who cares if it’s hotter than heck! Oh well, ordering a bundle and taking one for the team during the heat. I love it when people comment on the Fat Cyclist jerseys and tell me that I’m not fat. I then direct them to this blog and hopefully get some more donations to go toward LAF.
(Loved the jerseys that were more pink than black though, maybe next time?)
Ride on everybody.
Win Susan and everybody else with the big C.

And I’m going to wear my pre-ordered Fat Cyclist jersey with pride when I get it!

I asked my wife to get me a bundle for my birthday (next week) or Easter (coming up, right?). She noticed it wouldn’t show up until June and her enthusiasm was diminished. So I did a little research and found some June holidays she can surprise me with:
-Donut Day (June 1) I plan on celebrating this with or without the gear.
-Cheese Day (June 4)
-National Fudge Day (June 16)
-International Picnic Day (June 18) International Picnic Day is a bigger deal than National Picnic Day, isn’t it?
-Ice Cream Soda Day (June 20)
-National Chocolate Pudding Day (June 26) Also the day the bicycle was patented in 1819 apparently
If necessary I’ll even let her give it to me on June 17, Eat Your Vegetables Day.

HEY, Fatty……..I thought you said we were going to do “WHITE” as the major color theme this year to have the Team jerseys really stand out???? And so we don’t have to ride in Black all summer long…………
What gives????

Hi, Elden! The new design looks great, and the packages are awesome! I have a question, however, about the regular, cotton t-shirts. A friend of mine wants to get his hands on some Fatty gear (I talk T6’s stuff up all the time!), but he’s not a cyclist, and I couldn’t convince him that what he REALLY needs to do is pre-order the new package for me. He’s considering buying a t-shirt, but he asked me if proceeds from the regular t-shirts will also go to Livestrong– so can you or one of the guys from T6 answer that question for me?
Comment by The D | 03.11.2009 | 8:48 am
O, Fatty & T6, why must you tempt me so?
In these rough $ times, I love that T6 is sticking to its business plan, which seems to be:
1) Be decent people
2) Be cool people
3) Repeat.
Kudos, fellas
WIN, SUSAN!
Comment by Matt | 03.11.2009 | 8:57 am
I just preordered my jersey…however with that said, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work with T6 and come up with a design that is a bit brigher (ie: NOT so much black)…it gets hot out here in the summer months, and more importantly, black is SO not-visible to the killer cars.
Just my 2 cents worth…other than that the jersey looks GREAT! Glad to be a team Fatty member.
Win SUSAN!

About Black – I love it! Even in the summer. Even this summer in Austin.
Love black. Too hot? All in your mind.
T6 – Don’t listen to the weenies. (Well, unless you want to sell them some white clothing, I guess.)
Comment by Joel | 03.11.2009 | 10:17 am
Very nice, and I LOVE the black. Also – any chance of a new model FC woolie? Wore mine on a commute for the first time this week and loved it.

Re: Back in Black
I’m all good with having a pinkety-pink team jersey, but I do remember that the orange jerseys sold out a lot more quickly than the v1.0 pink jerseys did on the gentlemen’s side. And the pink’s gotta stay, so pink and black it is.
Of course, we could mix pink and orange and go all Sasha-Obama-on-Inauguration-Day. I’m sure we’re already the cutest team, but that would definitely clinch it.

Either one is sooo sexy I’m gonna have to either beat the men off with a stick or ride faster than they do.

Eldon, sorry to say I have some gripes, my friend.
1. I’ve been really busy and, consequently, have not been on the computer too much lately. I found some time and (of course) jumped on fatcyclist.com. Imagine my surprise when I saw the ‘flaming’ Team Fatty jersey on display. Yes, I like the black–don’t change it. Okay, here’s the gripe: Your team captain(s) should send an email (via their captain page) to their respective team members to make sure they don’t miss the March 17 deadline to order. I know you have some enthusiastic supporters, but there’s a (very good) chance someone on the team will not see the page before the deadline. I would have been REALLY, REALLY DISAPPOINTED if I would have missed the chance. Seriously, bro.
2. Why the short deadline? I need to save up to buy a $75 shirt…guess I shoulda planned ahead. The electricity bill can wait till next month can’t it?
I’ve been signed up for Austin since the first day.
Thanks, man.
Comment by Clericeric | 03.11.2009 | 9:15 pm
Hey Elden,
The new jerseys look great! But I’m a rider of the sub-tropical-fatty-fan type. For 9 months out of the year it’s too dog-gone hot here in Alabama to ride in black. Any chance for a white, or light colored set this year? And hey, maybe if they aren’t black the fatty team might not smell so bad, since they aren’t sweating so much?
WIN!

ARGH! I swear you have a sixth sense as to when I am completely and utterly strapped for cash. Last pre-order saw me with $75 dedicated to my horse’s feet. Now I’m trying to finish paying off my new bike so I can bring it home. Do you understand the suffering I feel right now?
Oh, Rob, all you need to do is download the PayPal plugin and ta-da, you are golden. I’m going to have to use that because I lost my stinking debit card.
Comment by HillBill | 03.14.2009 | 12:50 pm
Oh my goodness are we getting free shipping too? Hmmmm, despite needing the men’s kit to get bibs and cover my lengthy torso this is very tempting. Besides, this kit perfectly matches my old bike, mostly black, a little pink. I’ll look so official!
