This Contest Is Now Completely, Ridiculously Awesome (Yes, Now It Includes a Trip to the Tour de France)

12.8.2009 | 8:41 am

A Holy-Cow-Did-We-Really-Do-This-It-Seems-Unreal Note from Fatty: Around 8:10pm on Tuesday, we crossed the finish line: More than $50,000 donated to both the LiveStrong and World Bicycle Relief pages.

A HUGE “thank you” goes out to Johan for putting together an outrageous challenge. An even HUGER “thank you” goes out to Team Fatty — by which I mean anyone who donated — for proving, once again, how incredibly generous people can be.

Also, big thanks to Trek for providing the Madone, to Gary Fisher Bikes for providing the FattyFly, to Nick Howe for providing the cool bonus-prize jerseys, and to Trek Travel for providing the Tour de France trip.

This has been the nuttiest contest I’ve ever done, and all the more awesome because it totally fell from the sky.

And now I get to spend the weekend in Arizona, riding with Team RadioShack. And — even more exciting — I get to give away two incredible bikes and the trip of a lifetime.

Sometimes, it’s good to be Fatty.

A Frequently-Updating Note from Fatty: For those of you who like to check up on the running contest totals (or if you want to go donate), click here for the LiveStrong Page, and click here for the World Bicycle Relief page. And to make things easy for those of you interested but too lazy to do the math yourself, I’ll update the amount-raised totals here from time to time.

  • Tuesday, 10:00 AM: $79,482
  • Tuesday, 11:20 AM: $83,088
  • Tuesday, 3:00 PM: $91,902
  • Tuesday, 4:20 PM: $94,052
  • Tuesday, 8:30 PM: $101,662
  • Wednesday, 6:00 AM: $104,447

Our Story So Far

For those of you who haven’t been following — and for those of us with short attention spans –here’s what’s happened so far.

  1. Last Thursday I wrote a blog post in the form of a resume cover letter to Johan Bruyneel, Director of the newly-formed Team RadioShack.
  2. On Friday, Johan replied, saying I could be on the team for a day if we raised $20,000: $10K for LiveStrong, and $10K for the World Bicycle Relief Fund. If we raised $50K — $25K for each cause — he’d also give me a Trek Madone.
  3. I started scrambling, figuring out how I could possibly raise that much money in under a week.
  4. On Sunday, I posted my response: a contest where you can win the Madone, signed by Team RadioShack, by donating to the World Bicycle Relief Fund; or where you can win a custom-painted Fat Cyclist Gary Fisher Superfly by donating to LiveStrong.
  5. Yesterday — within 24 hours of when I posted my contest — we hit not only the $20K mark, but the $50K mark as well. In other words, in less than one day after the contest began, you hit the stretch goal Johan set for us for the week.
  6. Johan began scrambling, looking for a new stretch goal.
  7. Last night (Monday), Johan posted a new goal, with a new prize, on his blog.

That new goal is to double the original stretch goal: raise $100,000 for these two causes by this Friday at noon.

And if we do? In addition to the prizes that will already be given away — the signed Trek Madone and the personalized, custom-painted Superfly — Trek Travel will donate one 2010 Paris Finishing Package (along with airfare) to witness the finale of the Tour de France.

Let me reiterate that point, using bold, italics, and underline for emphasis: If we can raise $100,000, someone’s going to win a trip to the Tour de France.

That is not a trivial prize. Nosirree. This is what you might call a grand prize.

And the thing is, at the time I’m writing this — 7:00 AM on Tuesday morning — we’re already 2/3 of the way there. So I believe we can do this.

So How Do You Enter?

The contest remains the same, basically (yesterday’s post has the details).

And regardless of which you donate to, you are also entered in the contest for the Tour de France trip. So when you donate at either page, you qualify for a chance the bike you selected AND the trip.

Of course, that trip is only awarded if we get to $50K for each of the causes by Friday at noon, MST.

What Are We Doing Here?

I know I’m asking for a lot of money here. Which makes this a good time for me to remind you — and me — that the reason Johan’s doing this, the reason these companies are donating their products, and the reason I’m writing this is simple and singular: to fight cancer and help kids have a better life. The prizes are cool, yes, but they’re gravy.

In short, by donating you’re doing a good thing, in a fun way. So thanks for joining me in this ridiculously awesome contest.

Oh, and also this is a good chance to make those end-of-year charitable contributions for tax purposes. Or so I’m told. Frankly, I don’t even know what that means.

Now Let’s See that FattyFly

Yesterday, I promised that as soon as Jesse Lalonde sent me mockups for the personalized and Fatty-Edition-Customized Gary Fisher Superfly — The FattyFly, as it’s now officially known — I’d post pictures.

What I didn’t count on was that Jesse would do two versions of the customization: one with orange accents (click the image to see it larger)…

200912080726.jpg

…and one with pink (click image to see larger version):

200912080728.jpg

Myself, I really would love to have the orange one. The winner is the one who gets to choose, though. What an awesome decision to have to make.

The Clydesdale icon is on the headtube and seatube. The cursive FatCyclist.com” appears on the underside of the downtube by the bottom bracket. “FattyFly” is a detail on the inside of the seatstay. “201” and “WIN” are on the insides of the chainstays. And as promised, the winner’s name goes on the toptube.

Here’s what the production art looks like, for those of you (like me) who love to obsess over these things (again, click the image for a larger version):

200912080733.jpg

How do you get this one-of-a-kind FattyFly? There’s only one possible way: by donating to this LiveStrong page before Friday at noon.

Final Word

I’m obsessively checking our fundraising status, in part because I’m amazed at how generous FatCyclist readers are, and in part because I really, really, really want to see someone win that trip to the Tour de France, in addition to the other incredible prizes loaded up in this contest.

I wonder what Johan will propose next, when we hit $100K sometime today or tomorrow.

This contest continues to awe and amaze me. Team Fatty is one generous group. Non-profits never do fund raisers in December since no one has the extra to give, right?

Id be thrilled to be the winner of the tour de france trip, but you had me at the Fatcyclist Superfly.

Hey, anyway you could put the links at the top of todays post? I, like you, have been checking in religiously and rooting for Team Fatty to make the goals. I joined Team Fatty for Philly ‘10 (see you there!) but also decided to donate this time around as well.

The Fattyfly will be finished out in Tango or Pinkslip XO, right?
    Awesome contest.
We started doing these kinds of charity causes as Christmas presents. My dad is impossible to shop for, so we tell him his present is a dairy goat sent to a single mom in Africa. I won’t plug that here. This year, Dad got a bicycle sent to a student in Zambia.

    I am in again!
I was just thinking the other day about how Fatty (in some areas) reminded me of Vin Diesel. I can just see a motivated Fatty saying to cancer, as Riddick did in the Chronicles of Riddick, “I am not about all that” (or something similar). “But I will have a piece of him.” We have to have Fatty’s kind of person in the world. Maybe he’s not perfect, but we should help Fatty get his “piece” now because it is right.
In the end, there will be peace for so many when this fight is over.

    Wow. Just — wow.

Hey Fatty, I came to your blog via the NYT (and Bike Snob), and stuck around because of your writing. It’s been maybe 15 years since I rode a bike, but I’m hooked on your blog.

What you’ve done over the past months is inspirational; still, I pessimistically thought you’d have a hard time reaching $20K. I had no idea how big the community here is! Your friends are amazing.

Anyway, I’m inspired, and I’m in. Both charities will get some of my birthday money. I know it’s theoretically possible that I’ll win (which would be mystifying), but I wanted to be part of this and contribute to two great causes.

In loving memory of Ratna mashi.

now i can’t even get them there pages to think of loading and everything just crashes. I am hoping that’s because the sites are jammed with people donating. But I wish I could also donate, I think a new GF would look great in my garage next to my current GF!!! Aaarrrggghhhh I will have to keep trying.

Don’t for one minute underestimate how much we admire you and that is why you have this most awesome response to the contest. Yes the prizes are “through the roof” But initially my thought was we have to get this man, after all he’s been through and all he does for the cancer community a ride with Team Radioshack.

  28. Comment by MattC | 12.8.2009 | 10:37 am

Well said Sandy! I got an email last night from a friend (who has been employed by Team Discovery..and is now employed by Team Radio Shack)…and she told me about Trek’s upping the ante with the trip..and I the way I read her email, I thought that if we raised 100K, they would send FATTY to the TDF…and I thought to myself “how awesome would that be…Fatty at the TDF, and then telling us all about it!” And then to see this morning that the trip is for one of US…well..that is just flabbergasting. I know my wife will beat me up some on this (cuz I’m totally broke..just paid my property taxes…yikes!)..but I have to help you get over 100K…so my meager part is on the way to both funds. Good luck Fatty! I know your loyal cadre of readers (of which I am one) will come thru for you…I have no doubt. WE are an awesome bunch! Too bad the name “Fatheads” is already taken…that would describe us pretty well I think.

  33. Comment by Sam Pellegrino | 12.8.2009 | 10:56 am

Year-End Contributions are a BIG DEAL when April 15 comes around. You directly reduce your Gross Income by making donations to non-profits or your House of Worship.

In this case, you can consider Team Fatty as your House of Worship!!

    Hey-hey-hey…all the way…to 100k !!!

  34. Comment by Dan O | 12.8.2009 | 10:56 am

In for both, If I win I’ll re-raffle the bikes, for my livestrong challenge next year, that I still need to sign up for, if I win the trip, I may re-raffle that as well as Cancer treatments may prevent me from flying internationally next year. Best of luck to all who support Fatty, and to Fatty who will be at the best job interview ever on Sunday!

BTW…you had better get in good shape for the 12 hour training ride you are going to have to do with Team Radio Shack! Don’t be distracted by the sweet walkie talkies that you will get to use on the ride. (It is Radio Shack so walkie talkies goes without saying)

Make sure that Johan yells instructions to you in English instead of one of the 27 other languages he has to use from the team car! LOL!

    GO FATTY!

  43. Comment by Di | 12.8.2009 | 11:12 am

I can’t even afford the prize tax for a trip to Paris. :-( Someday.

So is it a combined $100,000 for the two charities? I must be one of those people lacking an attention span.

  44. Comment by Sasha | 12.8.2009 | 11:20 am

Fatty – I’m gonna donate, just haven’t had the time. My husband will shoot me when he sees how much I’ve donated this year and I haven’t told him that I signed up for Austin 2010. Oh boy! :) We ARE in between churches so aren’t tithing and it’s all going to awesome causes. Just wanted to say I’m doing this cause I believe in the cause and I want to see you on Team Radioshack, in a more permanent manner (maybe not as a rider but…). Can you say leave of absence from work? :) Also, if I were to win the trip, I would give it to you and hope that Trek would include your kids too. However, if I won the Fatty bike, I wouldn’t be able to give that up – WAY to special, even though I’m more of a roadie. I LOVE GARY FISHER (I have a Tassjara). The road bike would be hard to give up to since I can’t even come close to affording something so nice. But since I never win anything (well rarely) I don’t have to worry about that dilemma. I just get to donate to TWO excellent causes and be part of an incredible group of people. I’m so honored to be a part of this. Thank you for being who you are and for pulling together an amazing group of people. You are awesome! Team Fatty is awesome! Johan is awesome! :)

  45. Comment by Sprocketboy | 12.8.2009 | 11:22 am

Okay, once we are over the $100,000, I think Johan will have no choice but to raise the number and let Elden actually be the protected rider for Team Radio Shack at the Tour.

  46. Comment by Jason Mitchell | 12.8.2009 | 11:38 am

So… question here. Will the donations to World Bicycle Relief be doubled still if we donate through your link, Fatty?

I know that all donations to the WBR are being doubled through Dec 31… just want to make sure to get the maximum benefit to the peeps.

150k: Someone from Team RadioShack will come to you for a few days of riding at some point in the future (during off season/etc).
200k: That someone’s name might rhyme with Fance Thromstrong (albeit for a joker like me, that’s like a 35 minute trip from the ranch)
300k: (in Rod Roddy voice) A new car!
500k: fatcyclist.com is now an official sponsor of Team RadioShack (on the jersey and everything), and Fatty + family gets an all expenses paid trip to the TdF, where he can ride in the team car and bark out crap on the radio

I just made my donation to Livestrong. I’m not a cyclist but cancer has touched (and taken) the lives of several family members and close friends. Wishing Fatty the best!

I honestly belive you could raise money for a pencil! I really do.

I’d donate. Especially if it were a Fat Cyclist Pencil

Looks like someone is going to the TDF!

  80. Comment by Carly | 12.8.2009 | 3:11 pm

    Fatty- this freakin rocks.
I read your letter last week and immediately thought “man I hope Johan reads this” cuz it’s just pure awesomeness.
And now this contest- one of the best of the year in my opinion. How can you NOT donate?
I will be cycling on that Madone in my dreams until the contest is over and then of course when I win I will take it to France with me to watch the Tour.
    ;)

  81. Comment by NYCCarlos | 12.8.2009 | 3:16 pm

$7200+ in just under 3 hours… and that’s to hit 90k… you’d think everyone would have donated by now, but there’s still more! this is ridonkulous.

  82. Comment by Kylie | 12.8.2009 | 3:20 pm

    $90,622 at 14:19 MST

I REALLY thought everyone would have donated to get to $50,000 and $100,000 was going to be a stretch.

I soooooooooo happy to be wrong!

  83. Comment by Lana | 12.8.2009 | 3:21 pm

I wonder by the end of this how many unique people will have donated? can we have a contest to guess that number?

  84. Comment by KT | 12.8.2009 | 3:40 pm

Lana, I have been wondering about that. I also wonder how many new people are now fatty fans.

    :)

Why yes, DC, Fatty does have a posse. :) lol

I actually donated twice, once again when the ante had been upped. *grin* (only for you Fatty)

    I love it!

  88. Comment by Eva | 12.8.2009 | 4:11 pm

I just have to say what you all know so well:

You are an amazing community doing all together the right thing, by the power of dedication, creativity and brotherhood.

Team Fatty, Friends of Fatty, Readers of Fatty, Elden, Johan Bruyneel and Team RadioShack, you rock, big times!

I donated because I couldn’t not be a small part of this.

May I also mention it makes me proud to know that Johan is Belgian… A few great men were born in my small country :-)

Enjoy all those insanely awesome prizes and…

    Win!

  89. Comment by Philly Jen | 12.8.2009 | 4:15 pm

Anybody see the new Team Radio Shack jerseys?

    http://www.twitpic.com/smh0r

I believe the “smh0r” in the URL stands for “some horror.” Fugly. Mooby. (And that’s just above the waist.)

So then it must be true: Johan is using Fatty!

…To wrangle an invitation to the guys at Twin Six.

  90. Comment by martinsillo | 12.8.2009 | 4:17 pm

I declare myself a new Fatty Fan…I’m a Venezuelan living in Mexico and got to this website this weekend. I’m really moved and amazed about how you guys are committing to the project.

My family had been hit hard by Cancer, 2 members are gone and a third is fighting it as I write..we know about this.

I also want to confess that I have not done much against Cancer but reading Fatty story and seeing this effort really made me think.

To begin with I’m going to start donating to this project and will also do my best to be in Austin 2010 Challenge joining Fatty Team!!!

$100,000 is almost done..Bring the 3rd challenge on Johan!

  91. Comment by Born 4Lycra | 12.8.2009 | 4:18 pm

8.50 am in Aust $92717 – wake up and donate.

  92. Comment by Philly Jen | 12.8.2009 | 4:18 pm

    …er, “wrangle an introduction,” sorry.

So blinded by the sheer fuglitude of that jersey that I found myself unable to type.

  93. Comment by Haven (KT) | 12.8.2009 | 4:19 pm

    Oh. My. Goodness.

    This is stunning.

  94. Comment by Haven (KT) | 12.8.2009 | 4:22 pm

Philly Jen, you are right, the new jerseys are incredibly terrible.

Maybe they are going for irony? I don’t know.

I think Lance is wearing a jersey that is one size too small… You know how a T6 jersey fits differently from a PIzumi jersey, maybe he ordered his usual size but their jersey people have a slightly different sizing chart from whoever they used last time.

  95. Comment by Eva | 12.8.2009 | 4:33 pm

    An idea for Johan…

If you meet next target at 150K$, Team Radio Shack makes a donation of 100$ on the Livestrong Challenge page of each Team Fatty member in each of the 4 cities.

  96. Comment by 100poundsago | 12.8.2009 | 4:40 pm

Can of worms meet Johan…Johan meet the can of worms….he really had no clue what he was dealing with did he?

  97. Comment by Yukirin Boy | 12.8.2009 | 4:42 pm

    Wow – I am speechless.

  98. Comment by MattC | 12.8.2009 | 4:44 pm

Or how about if we meet the next target, Fatty and TWINSIX get to redesign the RS jerseys! Gosh those are absolutly abominable. Maybe ok for some low-level domestic team nobody’s ever heard of…but not for a world stage Pro team! REDESIGN PLEASE!!! It’s SO BLAND! Like..”we are team ho-hum, and plan to show up now and then and do nothing memorable or important”.

  99. Comment by Laura | 12.8.2009 | 4:54 pm

I am amazed everytime I log in! I have never felt so compelled to give away money!! It’s like a force is pulling my credit card out.

  100. Comment by Yukon19 | 12.8.2009 | 4:56 pm

Okay I’m in again. Thanks to Elden for starting a great network of friends who are able to help these great organizations. That we are able able help raise this much at this time of year is truly outstanding!

Thanks to Elden, Johan, Nick, everyone at Team Radio Shack, Gary Fisher, and Trek for adding to the Joy of Giving!

    Kent

  101. Comment by Nicko | 12.8.2009 | 5:13 pm

    Hey Fatty.

I just had a look at the rooming list for the Radioshack training camp. It looks like the only room with a spare bed is Lance’s. You can tell us if he drools in his sleep (or if he does sleep – some say he’s actually a robot).

  102. Comment by AngieG | 12.8.2009 | 5:20 pm

MattC and Philly Jen I actually gagged when I saw the picture. You both know how fashion concious I am. Initially I looked for a link to the actual promo jersey thinking the photo of Lance was the first attempt. I do like the yellow sleeve band though. Very strong yet subtle message.

I am thinking Brent and Ryan could do something like the BKB or Metal jersey with the Radio Shack Color pallette.

As of 15:15 PST $94,052. $6K to go. I think we’ll get there before 17:00 PST.

  108. Comment by Linda | 12.8.2009 | 6:01 pm

Watching the numbers rise on both sites is incredibly heartwarming. The biking community is truly wonderful. I’m not a cyclist, but maybe I could become one if I win one of the bikes :)

I’m broke as a joke, but I had to go in on this. Yeah the prizes are unreal, but with the experiences my family and I have had, I needed to find a place to put my anti-cancer support. I’ve found it here with Team Fatty.

I’m sure this is a record-breaking fundraiser not just for either of these two organizations but for 99% of the orgs out there. Fatty and Friends and going down into the pages of history of grassroots fundraising super heros.

And, yes, UGGGHHHHH on the TRadioShack jerseys. The jerseys are so ugly they hate themselves and are screaming, “Please rescue us from our fate. Get us to Twin Six and let Fatty help them give us a make-over. Quick!”

By the way, it doesn’t look like a real shirt in the photo, but a computer image superimposed on Lance….

  114. Comment by Erik | 12.8.2009 | 7:26 pm

At 6:23pm MST the total is $97,222.

  118. Comment by Darci | 12.8.2009 | 7:41 pm

You are great! I donated not for the prizes (as I don’t ride bikes at all) but because I believe in the cause. I hope the winners enjoy their prizes!

My bet is, you’ll have raised enough by midnight tonight (Tuesday). Good job!

  121. Comment by GT | 12.8.2009 | 7:53 pm

Hell of a job. Kudos to your inspiration.

Damned inspiring to all of us out here who have dealt with health issues with our loved ones. Especially those that are self-employed or small business employed, for whom insurance is problematic at best. Sitting up all night trying to decide if the ER is needed or not…

    All that jazz.

I just can’t believe you, and your whole grassroots community, actually pulled it off.

I want to see Johan on his bike, via a pic taken by you, preferably at the top of a climb like Gates Pass. A climb I know well from past Tucson Stage Races.

    Congrats!

Oh man we’re going to hear about this at all the family reunions for the next 25 years……

And much to my shagrin, I feel extraordinary just being related to Fatty. Elden – you are without a doubt, my very favorite brother. Also, the smartest, best looking, and richest.

Truly – very very proud of you tonight. You have collected the attention of some mighty good people. Susan would be so proud to see that what you two started together has moved into such a positive and powerful tool for change. What a legacy that is.

FC Have a great weekend with Team FatShack. Like I said earlier Lance won’t get a 6 minute start this time. You’ll be missing MattC, your lead Domestique, but I know you’ll blow them away. Wait until they get a look at those quads in person.
Keep the rubber side down and convince them to let Ryan and Brent design the Team jersey. The selection they currently have is just… not doing it for me, that’s all I have to say. Its worse than the Astana jerseys.
    Have a fun!!!!

I admit that I underestimated Team Fatty (and I bet JB did too). I made my small donation before the prizes came out, because I wanted to be a part of sending Elden to ride with Team RadioShack – a part of living a dream. Now I am so proud to be a part of Team Fatty meeting this improptu challange.

It’s been such fun watching the totals grow, and I don’t think we are thru yet!

  182. Comment by Alex | 12.8.2009 | 10:27 pm

Made my first donation to the fight against cancer since my dad passed away. It’s been a very trying fall for me, but it feels good to start giving to a cause that is so much bigger than any one person or any silly numbers in my bank account. $10 to each cause, even though you’re already over your goal.

I am still thinking of ponying up the $250 myself to ride in Philly in his memory. Gotta figure out what the rest of the summer holds for me.

    Win.

Thank god he put that up… otherwise I’d be losing sleep waiting for his reply!

Good on you, Fatty (takes one to know one).

I was already in for $75….now that you’re over $100k, I’m in again. How about upping the ante for Lance. Get to $200k, and he matches with a donation to the charity of YOUR choice.

I’m tweeting and posting everywhere I can think of to help out the effort.

    SPREAD THE WORD, people!

  188. Comment by Joel P. | 12.8.2009 | 10:44 pm

OK, paycheck finally direct deposited, could finally make my donation and now can comment. WOW!!! Fatty you are most amazing as is JB (although not as amazing as you) but I have to say that Team Fatty has shown what amazing is really all about. I am proud to be a small part of a truly (I’m going to use that word again) AMAZING family.

I remember a goal you mentioned at some point that you wanted to raise a million dollars this year.

I thought you were nuts, but how are you doing on that?

    You’re a good man Fatty.

Awesome job on the fund raising triumph for 2 fantastic causes. While I am thrilled that you will be “going to camp” part of me also wonders if you’ve realized you may have to start considering use of more that ONE GEAR! A boggling proposition I know – but we’re sure your magnificents may manifest itself on several gears! Allez!

Well done Fatty and friends. What a great effort in such a short time span. What a team !

  193. Comment by muffelatta | 12.9.2009 | 12:56 am

I donated on friday when the totals for both charities were around $2200. I thought wouldn’t it be great for a member of us an “everyman” to hang out with Team Radioshack and possibly get to ride and take home a new Madone while he was there. Then I find out Fatty is donating the bike, the Trip, a signed jersey, (and probably a humpacked whale and a zip code) to a few random lucky donors. As type this I have tears running down my cheeks- why? I think its because the effort is pure and sincere and is about helping people and that is a beautiful thing.

I heard about this because of twitter. I now know you can change the world in a hundred and forty characters or less.

Go Fatty! Have a wonderful time. I look forward to reading about a dream come true.

  194. Comment by Stephanie | 12.9.2009 | 1:02 am

JB set a very high bar but, as usual, your selfless approach to the great fight saw his targets reached with ease. Awesome job Fatty. I look forward to reading/seeing what you got up to this weekend.

  199. Comment by RoadApplz | 12.9.2009 | 5:05 am

This has been such a huge inspiration to me and made me feel so good to be a part of something so wonderful, the best part being sending the most deserving Fatty to camp.

I have been wracking my brain as to how to spread the word beyond the cycling community because I know that it will inspire so many people as it did a friend of mine who replied to my blast email to my contacts to check out the story:

“Thanks, Lisa. I enjoyed the story and did make a contribution in memory of a 12 year old boy that I knew while I was chaplain at The Children’s Hospital several years ago. He was an amazing soul as he was dying from terminal cancer. I will always remember him.

    Godspeed,

    Alan”

This isn’t just win-win-win, it’s a game changer in many ways and is touching the lives of everyone who hears about from every angle.

I’ve always considered myself to be a good person. Generous, kind, considerate, all the things that are supposed to matter. Despite all that, I only hope that one day I am able to make the kind of impact you are making on the world. That being said, I know you had to suffer greatly to get to this point, and I only hope I never have to go through what you have been through. I donated out of gratitude for my many blessings, with the hope that fewer people will have to endure what you and your family have had to endure. There really are no words to describe how awesome this is. Have a great time in Tucson.

This has touched my heart, so proud to be a cyclist and to be a very small part of this wonderful Christmas present. Have had a smile on my face all week, can’t believe how much has been raised in such a short period of time. Bring on the next challenge Johan!

Enjoy the camp Fatty you deserve it. Had a short chat with Jani Brajkovic and Popo at the Tour of Ireland and they were really decent guys. I think you’ll have a blast and looking forward to reading all about it. Ask them what their favourite race is and what they would be doing if they were not pro cyclists?

    Hello,
This is great and I’m excited to help you achieve this goal. I believe you represent what every cyclist out there would love to be part of. I also believe in helping out others as I have in the past with my small bike race in Peru. I look forward to your trip, pictures and comments once you return from your training camp.

Congratulations to you, Johan and Livestrong for making this a truly one of a kind contest.

My family and I wishes you the best!
