4:27
The Runner and I finished the Death Valley Trail marathon in 4:27. No injuries, apart from my ego.
I will explain more in my writeup this Monday.
For the record, that’s twelve minutes faster than my previous marathon time, seven years ago.
Those of you who ought to be paying, please get your wallets ready.
And now I believe I need to sleep for the rest of the day.

Good job Fatty and The Runner! BTW Fatty, have The Runner wear pants next time if you’re in shorts. Her quads are imposing in on your “massive” quads, or maybe it’s just the camera angle.
Comment by Clydesteve | 02.6.2010 | 9:29 pm
Conga-Rats, man.
As per bet I pay your LSC HQ in April, barring earlier financial availability. Just as i suspected, sandbagger!

Comment by Sean Cormack | 02.7.2010 | 12:03 am
Congratulations….
You were in my thoughts yesterday…to explain.
I currently live in Qatar (just on the side of Saudi) and the tour of Qatar is over here, so a few cycling type people are around(funny tan lines, no upper body)
Came out from a restaurant after having lunch with my wife and walked past a guy with a ‘win’ t shirt on
How’s that for global domination??

Great job you two! Fatty – The Runner is giving you a run (pun intended) in the “best quads” category. And…is that something shiny I see on the ring finger of The Runner’s left hand???
Comment by Rob Churchill | 02.7.2010 | 3:53 am
Wallet ready, but dammit Fatty, you must’ve been really slacking seven years ago – how often did you stop for a twix?

Nice legs:) Congrats to you both!
Comment by Philly Jen | 02.7.2010 | 7:27 pm
I’m good! Finished my first half-Mary without a hitch, and life in Georgia is peachy (though I seem to have misplaced my Road ID). It was windy out by the ocean, so I confess to spending a couple of minutes drafting off Kermit the Frog:
http://bit.ly/runkermitrun
I did carry Kermit’s left foot while chatting with his running partner, so I think it ended up being a wash, aerodynamically speaking.
The best part: the homemade desserts at the pre-race dinner, a fundraiser for a local school. Will run for red velvet cupcakes…
Comment by Dr. Lammler | 02.7.2010 | 8:28 pm
To Philly Jen: Good to hear. Congratulations.
And that shoud have read the third letter of the alphabet. Dr. Lammler never claimed to be a brain surgeon.

Comment by leroy | 02.7.2010 | 10:11 pm
Philly Jen –
You have to try the pecan waffles at The Breakfast Club on Tybee Island.
(I lived in Savannah for a while, my in-laws are there and we visit a lot. Road biking in August on Georgia asphalt is a character building experience.)

I’m preparing to run my first marathon at the end of February, so I’ve been watching your updates closely. I’ve set my own goal to beat Oprah (sub 4:29). After reading your account of a fast start and a painful second half, I think I’ve talked myself out of trying to bank time at the beginning by starting fast.
Congrats and both accounts!
Comment by Frank | 02.8.2010 | 9:33 am
