A Video Interview With . . . Me
Hi there!
You have no idea how tired I am right now. And how much work this race is. I’ll write up the stories when the Breck Epic is done, but for right now, The good folks at CycleDirt did a post-stage-2 interview with me last night.
Off to race stage 3 now!

A tired Fatty doesn’t ramble on.

Hope your legs get a second wind. Just keep turning the cranks!
Comment by Lorraine | 08.14.2012 | 8:50 am
Good luck today and the rest of the week, I know you guys will kill it!
(also note that this interview is the first time I’ve heard what you sound like and I now have to totally readjust my mental image of you)

Are you going for the Amish Cyclist look?
Comment by Mary Timberlake | 08.14.2012 | 9:49 am
Can’t imagine the complete exhaustion and pain. However, you are still able to smile! Loved that you bragged on your wife. As much as you can, enjoy the sufferfest–all of us in Fattyland know that you two can do this.

OK…so I had to go watch the video just to see Amish Cyclist Fatty. Thanks for the Tuesday morning snort, bikemike. I just embarrassed myself in the middle of my office…again.

You do know you’re insane, right?
Ah, but the insane don’t know they’re insane, that’s what makes them insane. So I’ll tell you, you’re insane.
Comment by Gussie | 08.14.2012 | 10:27 am
I thought I saw some eyes poking out of the black thing under your chin.
Comment by Jeremy | 08.14.2012 | 11:29 am
Good luck getting recovery in and finishing out the ride. Impressive effort.
Comment by Eric L | 08.14.2012 | 12:26 pm
I loved your comment about not quitting. But then we already knew what a fighter you are.
Jensie should be impressed.

Hang tough Elden!

“mumbling and muttering…”

I don’t know how you do it, but you do. And you’re right, dropping out of a race will eat at you. All the best to you and The Runner.
Comment by Joachim | 08.14.2012 | 2:24 pm
Buddy, you look terrible. And it has got nothing to do with you being tired (which in my opinion actually makes you look extremely young). But that facial hair? Amish look? Can you imagine Stanley Tucci with such a thing? You should shave more than your legs and arms and head and only God knows what else… :-)
No offense – keep it up and all the best, you are truly an inspiration!

Fattyites! It’s not Ammish, he’s from Utah!

He’s also a Star Wars fan so maybe it’s another direction:

Elden, though you’re physically beaten down, that was a nice, coherent interview. It was a lot better than I would do with a live microphone (and camera!).
Comment by Justin L | 08.14.2012 | 5:40 pm
Fatty your my hero keep it up.
Comment by Michael | 08.14.2012 | 6:51 pm
Rockin’ the Utah neck beard. Very stylin’, Fatty.
Colt is such a cool guy. Fresh off the Olympics he comes and covers the Breck Epic. Too awesome. Love Cyclingdirt.

@davidh-marin, ca: I can’t even put into words how awesome is your second picture. Thanks for the belly laugh!

You sure don’t look or sound cooked! You look amazing!! Keep pedaling Fatty – one foot in front of the other. Keep that push-pull rhythm going. Also, you are insane to do that. And, can I just say WOW about the Hammer – that woman rocks!
