New FattyCast: Dr. Bob Murray with #ITSTHENERVE

05.24.2016 | 12:27 pm

NewImageA few months ago I got some samples of something called #ITSTHENERVE — little two-ounce bottles that are supposed to stop cramps in their tracks.

The next time I had a cramp come on, I opened one, drank it…and within seconds, the cramp was gone. And that’s happened twice more since then.

And in short, this #ITSTHENERVE stuff has worked for me, every single time.

So I had to learn more. And that’s how I wound up with Dr Bob Murray, with Flex Pharma, talking about this mysterious product.

You can listen to it on iTunes, you can download the MP3, or if you use a podcast tool like Overcast, you can use my RSS feed (http://fattycast.com/rss), or your can listen to it right here:

It’s an interesting interview with a smart (and nice) guy about a product I’ve had a lot of success with.

PS: Be sure to follow #ITSTHENERVE on Twitter, and maybe get in on the pre-order that’s going on this week, as they prepare to launch and reveal what they’re going to call this product.

PPS: Full Disclosure: I am not compensated in any way by #ITSTHENERVE, but I did get several sample bottles at no charge.

Could’a used some of this on my ride last Saturday…always a day late and a dollar short. I will look into it tho…sounds like a miracle product! Cramps SUCK!!

ooh…uhm, just looked at the preorder page…a bit pricey for me…guess I’ll just have to suffer thru the cramps on my ‘recreational’ rides. Maybe if I was a racer and I had a bunch of time and money wrapped up in my ride (such as doing Leadville or something). It would be a secret weapon in that case.

    Interesting talk.

Based on what he says, it seems like if the product gives you stomach trouble it would be just as effective to swish it around in your mouth and spit it out. It’s the taste that kills the cramps, not the digestion of the ingredients.

Good to know that research shows that pickle juice works, too. I’ve been ridiculed a lot for that.

hmm Skratch labs drink mix never lets me down on endurance races etc, as long as I drink properly, but if it ever does I might need to check this out.

Agreed, the price is an obstacle for an every ride use. But, having it as an emergency spare isn’t too bad–it’s about the price of a tube and CO2 if you buy tubes and CO2 in bulk.

The mechanism by which it appears to work is pretty cool–I was wondering how it could be as fast-acting as Fatty and others have reported.

BTW, the official product name is HotShot … I saw some at my LBS last night when I was there for an event featuring 2016 US U23 Women’s National CX Ellen Noble (she was top female US finisher of any age at the most recent Worlds).

Dang…missed the pre-order. I don’t suffer cramps every ride but when I do…it’s BAD and takes me off the bike. This would be fantastic to keep in my pocket just in case.

Thanks for presenting this very interesting interview. And thank you to Dr. Murray and his team for the work they are doing. Will follow further research on the possibility of help for people who suffer from leg cramps at night and help for people with MS.

I looked for this on 6/3/16, and it looks like it’s been launched, called HotShot. $35 for a 6-pack, but there’s a $10 discount off your first order.

OMG! I used this at DK200 and just ordered a case. It’s tried and true and even tastes like a Fireball shot! lol – just shoot it.

I found I was so achy in my upper body from hanging on to a rigid bike for 200 miles and within seconds – this relaxed me. It was too good to be true! I’m a believer! Will use at Lutsen 99er and Leadville 100 next.
